Can She Do It?

Today marks the first day of my marathon pre-training-training. I haven't chosen a marathon yet. Sad start, right? Even worse news: I HATE RUNNING. The odds are stacked against me...

I've been reading Running magazines for years now, just tinkering with the idea of running that one marathon and checking off one very popular "Before I die..." list checkbox.
I've run and completed one 5k. Since then I've always been the support driver, cowbell ringer, and basically the onlooker.
I did find one article in Runner's World magazine Issue May 2007, Page 64 - 71, "101 Kicks in the Butt" by Calvin Hennick. This provides 101 tips, bits of inspiration and plenty more reasons NOT to give up on running. I'm using this article as my guide to getting started. Of course I'll use other resources to complete pre-training-training (PTT) and then my marathon training. But I know that my biggest hurdle is finding the motivation and not failing myself.
Healthwise, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to complete this goal. Unless mental health is an issue, because mentally, I always fizzle out.
So why blog about it? Well, I did say I was going to use "101" as a guide. So number 1 on the list is to "Create a Blog." This is supposed to keep me motivated by public exposure. This may be my smartest move. I hate to dissapoint.
It would be great if all-you-all could give thoughts, suggestions and a watchful eye. My PTT starts today with a 1.5 mile run that does not include the warm up and cool down. I'm perfectly capable of doing this without stopping, crying or puking. But I've not really done more than 2 miles since the Race for the Cure in... ummm... 2006.
