I haven't given up yet. Just have a hard time getting to the computer these days. Which is good right? I've included BodyPump in my current exercise regimen. Although my pants fit better, I am not decreasing in weight. Hopefully this can be chocked up to muscle mass? I did attempt a 3 mile run and succeeded in about 40 minutes. I could have pushed the speed a little more but didn't come to that conclusion till I was done. I tried to focus on pacing myself. Probably a good move.
So today I will run again. I'm choosing it over BodyCombat since I'm not really interested in being uncoordinated in public this week. I'll stick to one foot in front of the other.

RESTART
It's a New Year and a great time for getting back in the swing of things. I haven't blogged because I haven't been running but I have had a partially healthy regimen of stair climbing, spinning, lifting and... yeah... I'll count skiing as exercise. I can only say the last two weeks have been partially healthy because of the food that goes along with the holidays. It was basically (for me) a bingefest that kept going until I just couldn't stand to bring food to my face. Luckily, the aura that the New Year sets off helped me anhialate the remaining cookies in the kitchen so that they were no longer calling my name. I'm still on the bus for the marathon and seeking out the perfect location. If that exists for someone who dreads pounding gravel.

GOOSE EGGS!
So this week has been rough. I have developed two goose egg sized GOOSE EGGS on my workout schedule. This is my official sophomore slump. I did manage to squeeze a mile out of myself on Tuesday just to prove I haven't given up yet. I resembled Dennis Doyle in training. He's the infamous marathon runner of "Run, Fatboy, Run." Today is Saturday and I hope that I can find some energy in this rhythmic and lulling snowy day of humming snowplows and struggling vehicles on the hills of Pennsylvania. I'm full of excuses at the moment why I just have no time whatsoever, but the goose eggs definitely bring on a sense of dissapointment in myself. I'm looking for the strength. Where did I put it down?

Day 6 - PTT Run #3
This run came after a day of holiday shopping with my 2 year old which wasn't so bad except we had to also do our grocery store run immediately after. At the end of this, he began to melt down. My run was 90% based on my need to release tension. This made my run feel heavy to begin with. Another stressful factor was the P.O.C. headphones I switched to. They are a pair of standard issue ipod headphones. I knew better than to use them but I wanted less weight in my ears. However, I sacrificed the effects of heavy bass. It felt like I was listening to my playlist in a can of corn. So now I know what to ask for for Christmas. I cut some time off my 2 mi. run but had to make up for the heavy half by increasing speed on the second half. It wasn't too much harder but I don't see my self going that fast on the street. I guess I won't know till I try.

Day 3 - 2nd PTT run
Sophomore slump? No way! This run felt great. Between mile 1 and 1.5 I didn't know if I'd make it to today's goal of 2 miles. The last half mile was the easiest though cause I just wanted to get to the finish line. There's a lot I'd like to reveal about my motivation for running. You know, those people, places and thoughts that keep you moving, but I think I'll save them for longer hauls. I'll keep those in my head for now. But they helped me get through 1 -1.5. Now I just have to gradually move them up to "the wall" and the environmental struggles that I dread facing. It's fine and dandy on a treadmill with the snow falling in front of me. Who knows what I'll think when it's concrete and nature v. April

Day 1 - 1st PTT run
I'm using this run just to see what I'm dealing with. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I haven't run really since moving to PA. Don't forget I tend to "Hate Running." But I have been Spinning regularly. With a positive mentality I got through the first 1.5 mi. of "training." It's kind of funny to dwell on that, but I think the hardest part, with any new venture, is getting started. Plus this means I'm officially committed. Here are the details:
Total Distance: 1.74 mi.
Warm Up: 4 mins. Cool Down: About 3 mins.
Total time for 1.5 mi run: 18 mins
Total time for workout: 25 mins
Max speed: 5 mph
Stretches: none... oops need to come up with this for Thursday.
Workout Playlist (25 min. duration)
1. Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangsta - Geto Boys
2. Lean Back Remix - Fat Joe
3. Irreplaceable - Beyonce
4. Hey Mr. D.J. - Zhane
5. Baby Got Back - Sir Mix a Lot
Tomorrow: Spinning
Next Run: Thursday
Question of the Day: Am I missing any catergories for journaling my runs?

Pre-training-training
Here's a sample of the type of training I will follow until I decide which marathon I will run. http://www.halhigdon.com/spring/Springnovice.htm
I am going to make some changes to include my three usual spinning classes. Once I decide on a marathon and determine my training schedule, I will omit spinning. If you have any tips please shout it out! I'm starting out on my treadmill and currently DREAD the thought of running outside, especially for long distances. Please note that my initial goal is only to complete a marathon. I have no time goal.
